With summer in full swing, its time to park the car and take the bikes out for some lakeside cruises. Nothing makes me feel like a kid again then a bike ride. As children the bike was our car, we wanted to go a long distance in a few minutes, take your bike! Park it at a friends house (honestly they were thrown on the front lawn) and that was the way to tell who was hanging out with who, by their bikes on the front lawns!
As an adult having a bike is not necessary anymore unless you live in the city or use them for sport. When I cam across this beautiful blue bike I knew I wanted it!
Having a new bike was exciting, but I needed it to have a basket, because why not? I also wanted tassels and a bell but once I made this basket it did not ned anything else!
Shopping around for a reasonable basket did prove to be a challenge! Most of them were plastic, or for children, or did not match the colour of the bike!
So, the obvious choice was to DIY one!
Items needed for this DIY Bike Basket:
- Fabric Basket
- Felt
- Yarn Pom Pom's
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue Sticks
- Zip Ties
Not many steps to make this basket, simply cut out a circle out of the felt and glue it wherever you like on the basket, and add the pom pom's to create Mickeys ears! Add any additional pom pom's along the top to add some colour! Take the zip ties and feed them through the basket and around the handle bars, and tie into place.
This is a 5 minute DIY, budget friendly and can be interchanged to reflect your mood!
You can do many character just by paring certain colours together! For Example:
- Red, Green and Purple - Ariel
- Yellow and Red - Belle
- Orange, Black and White - Nemo
- Blue, Yellow and Black - Dory
- Yellow, Brown and Green - Walle
- Red, Black and White - Minnie
- Red Black and Yellow - Mickey
